Hi,

Just asked this on FD:UK, but no real answer...

how do I change my fuel pressure gauge without a) ****ing fuel everywhere inside the car and b) draining the entire fuel system.

:confused::2Confused

I have to presume that you have a soild pipe actualy taking fuel up to the gauge and into the cabin and if so providing you either pull the EGI fuse and crank the engine to bleed off the pressure or just undo a pipe slightly on your regulator at the other end of the pipe thats feeding the gauge,

Either way you will let the pressure go and have minal mess in the car

What I would do is remove the pump fuse, crank it over and let it stall (it may not even fire but atleast you\'ll know that there\'s no fuel in system). Or if it\'s been stood for a while just crack the gauge open and keep a few rags handy to mop the fuel up, shouldn\'t be too much. Undo the filler cap to release any intank pressure before undoing any fittings.

Run the car, remove green relay in fuse/relay box, this will stop Fuel Pump and lines will not be pressurised.

Is it a mechanical pressure gauge or does it run off a sender ?

If you need to drain the fuel lines to get rid of fuel pressure - easiest way is to have the engine running, then just unplug the fuel pump - wait till it dies and try and start it a couple of times - that will kill most of the redisdual pressure.

When you\'ve changed what you need to, just jumper the fuel system primer contacts, or run 12v to the pump directly for 20-30 seconds - that will re pressurize the rails.
