my biggest hate at this very moment in life is water :\'(

I seem to have a leak, which i thought was just affecting a rear seat....oh no that\'d be to easy!!! The car jack stored in the rear is swimming so was the spare wheel :\'(

So i mopped up all the water, busted out the hair dryer. Though i was done...but oh no, that\'d be too easy. The water then started leaking into the spare wheel compartment from some hole infront of it.

My theory is that the water is coming in through the rear hatch, migrating to the spare wheel compartment and from there somehow getting to the passenger side rear seat.

Also the spare wheel compartment is beginning to rust and i fear that if i cant get rid of all the water ill have loads and loads of rust to contend with.

:\'(

help!!!! i dont want to lose the rex, it means ill end up a badly handling fwd hatch with no power

Do you think it might just be the rubber seals around the rear glass that have started to go due to the age? Have you perhaps checked the rear wheel arches to make sure that the arch liners aren\'t loose causing water to be spun up into the rear?

dthebuk

im pretty sure its the rear glass hatch seals, but theres so much water, i dont think ill be able to find it all yet get rid of it, which ean more rust :(

yea checked the arches they\'re fine

Have you checked that the rear drains (the ones under the rear hatch) are clear from crap. Get a wire coat hanger or welding rod if you have access to one and give it a poke. I have to do the one\'s on my non runner FC as they block up regularly. It always fills the spare wheel well when they block up.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

I\'m sure that Brett will be on here to say more... but it\'s normally the drain holes getting blocked. If you open the hatch and look around the tiop edge there are two drain holes one in each corner. You need to clear these with a piece of tubing etc. What happens is that the water wicks up around the top of the hatch and has even been known to enter the roof lining or wet the rear seats etc. You should also have a rubber drain plug in the base of the spare tyre well to help you get rid of it :)

When you have got it all thoroughly dry, can I recommend that you pop a light coating of Waxoyl all over the lining of your boot - it doesn\'t look great, but it does a fantastic job and at the end of the day we need to save our precious FC\'s :)

Hope that helps!

might be worth checking the ariel hole as the rubber can sometimes crack n leak into the jack holder compartment.

Get the someone with a few buckets of water, cram yourself in the rear and get them to pour the buckets over the rear window and you should hear or see where the water is coming in:) then take it from there

No problems! All of the coupe FC\'s do this and it takes a while to figure out how! It\'s amazing where it can wick to like the back seat etc. :2eek There\'s really no need to jet wash it to look for leaks - this will be the culprit :) I absolutely promise that it will be because the drain holes were blocked :)

Good luck!

Best practice in the autumn and winter is to rod the drain holes once a week if you park near any trees etc :wave
