exhaust, loud, police?

i have just put a new exhaust on my car, decat pipe and a 5zigen rear box and its made my car so loud! like really loud, on idle its sounds like a tractor sounds nice on boost! just wondered how loud other peoples cars are, and if you ever get pulled over because of it?

mine at 4k is 112.9db which is too loud for any track in the country lol

get a few looks from old billl but not pulled yet .......touch wood. My neighbours just complain verytime i take it out

all i know is legal limit last time i had mine done was 110db at 3k for road use!

I thought there was no limit for the road as such but technically anything too much louder than standard can be an MOT fail (happened to me once dont use that station anymore)

After seeing this post .. I might keep my sports cat back on... The old bill round here are hot on loud cars.. and my neighbours think my car is loud enough....... thank god they haven\'t heard it on positive boost. LOL

it was when i got pulled over in my old car by the police! they pulled a db thing out and said that it has to be under the limit of 110 db at 3k revs ?!?!

It is an MOT fail if the MOTer feels its above stock levels...but then again, how often do they get an RX7 in their garage lol

Down to the police opinion, so if it sounds loud to you then it most likely is too loud

Like m1tch says, I didn\'t think there was a specific noise level anymore, it\'s subjective to the opinion of the tester/ol bill as to whether its "too loud". They even removed the level for bikes recently, which used to be 98db IIRC

It\'s these laws that get twisted by some police. Technicaly if your exhaust silencer are in good condition ie no holes or packing falling out it\'s a pass. As for the police doing anything they have you on defective exhaust but again if it is in good condition you\'re not breaking the law. This is just the concluions i have come to haveing had to look it up in the past.
Btw not been pulled and got kakimoto from dp back and when i had a sports cat that was louder than my decat.

Legal limit for motor bikes of 110db,but none for cars yet. Down to the police officer\'s personal discretion,so you can argue the toss if your feeling brave. My car at full chat read 135db and the local police pull me on a regular basis and advise me to change my exhaust. One certain traffic cop pays rather too much attention to my car and has threatened to impound it if i don\'t don\'t change the exhaust.He keeps handing me those stupid mot producer tickets,so i fit the muffler back in and get the ticket stamped by an mot station and take it back to the cop shop.If i keep getting the exhaust passed by the mot station the police can\'t do a thing.

surely the police must have better things to do than pulling ppl over with loud exhausts..?!?!
what about ppl who drive \'cars\' with black smoke comming from the rear.. see lots of them about..
im sure spending bit more time trying ot catch robbers would be better use of tax payers money..
