i know it\'s probably been covered on here before but i was on the parkers website and they have a thing that tells you how much you should pay.

i put in the vehicle details in (1989 T2) and it and it came back with £120 per year?

I sent them a little email asking if this was correct and here\'s ther reply:

Hi - thanks for the email.
As far as we are aware, vehicles registered before March 2001 fall into the cc bracket.
Up to 1549cc = £120 p/a
Over 1549cc = £185 p/a

The £185 is going to a flat £200 for pre 2001 vehicles above 1600cc if the Chancellor has his wicked way next year.

Yours must be a Jap import then cause mine is £100 every 6 months. Not sure how much it drops for 12 months.

The twin rotary is 1354cc I believe, therefore tax should be £120 for the year regardless of whether its an import.  Get your V5 amended at the DVLA.  Mine says 1354cc and so I pay £120 :)

They closed that loophole a while ago... mine is reg\'d as a 2.6 :(

I\'ve got 2 TII\'s both UK cars ones a 1990 and ones 1991. The 1990 is registered as a 2.4 and the 1991 is registered as a 2.6. They don\'t know jack s**t about cars considering they are the governing body. It really pee\'s me off too as they should be 1.3 anyway.

A UK spec turbo II is classed as either a 2.4 or a 2.6 litre engine depending on the insurer and is classed as such. Both 2.4L and 2.6L are above the 1549cc engine size, and therefore is classed as such, so thats £185 a year. But think of it this way, post 2001 they used emmissions, meaning that it would probably be in the top bracket of that, which is £400.

A jap import I believe is classed as the correct engine size of 1.3, so a jap import will cost £120 a year, a UKDM Turbo II will cost £185.

But then again as its a turbo II the minimal diffence in tax won\'t really make up for the fuel it uses :D

just got mine through £120 for the year registered as a 1.3:)

You should be able to get it changed at the DVLA, it\'s hardly a loophole as it\'s actually a 1.3!

If you have a T11.
Get a copy of the original Mazda sales Boucher on the T11 which states it is a 1.3 and send this to the DVLA with a covering letter and and log book, they should change it for you. This is what i did for my UK T11 and had no problem.

Ricco_04

Apparantley it\'s an agreement with Mazda and the DVLA under the Automotive Emissions Directive where UK Rotarys are classed as 2354 and 2616 for FC & FD respectively.  People can still change the log books but I read someone on here tried that and got refused :(

So I wonder is any cars registered as 1.3 ever get changed when a new owner gets their new copy of the V5c??

Hey,

when i brought my TII it said 25XXcc but then i sent proof to dvla that it was a 1300cc not 25XXcc n they changed it for me. (all i send was a printout of rx7 from wikipedia).

all is well.. my v5 said 1300cc so i went to my local dvla office to get a rebate off my 185 tax i paid. then this b*tt hole said to me. "oh its a rotary, its classed as a 2600cc.
i semi argued wiv him as i was gonna be late for work n he showed me this print out which explained that rotaries are calc differently and so it was a 2600cc.

that "anoyed" me a lil! n he kept my v5 to send it off to get amended and im still waiting for it back.

once it comes back im going to print out the parker guide n some other stuff to show its a 1300cc (650cc X2) to try get it changed back to 1300cc.

but as some1 said earlier.. its only 65 quid diff.. that like a trip to the shops n back.

end of the day.. i guess its just if u lucky or nt to get a robot to process ur v5 or not.

oh happy days..
2 doritos on a stick woohoo :rollin

Its a 1.3 correct, but its got more power strokes per rev than a piston engine, hence why its classed as a 2.4 for an FC or a 2.6 for an FD
