I have been advised I have a paper inlet gasket which could do with changing. Am I correctly informed this could cause problems when hot starting if the gasket is failing? What does the gasket look like and where is best to get a replacement? Is the replacement metal. How easy is it to get at and change with the engine in the car. If some one can gve me some pointers I would be very pleased!
Thank you

Depends whether you mean the gasket inbetween the LIM and engine block or gasket between LIM and UIM.

The one between LIM and UIM is easy to replace and costs about £20. The lower one will be very difficult if you still have twin turbo\'s

Well As luck would have it I mean the lower one that is a real beatch to get at! But.. As even more luck would have it the oil seals in my turbo have gone so I need to replace those anyway! And just when you thought no more luck could come my way. The rear eninge oil seal has gone too! So whoop whoop I need to drop the box and tend to that! I really really really don\'t want to take the engine out as I have just put it all back! So was intending to attack it all in situe over a couple of weekends? Perhasp I am just kidding myself that it will be less hassle doing it with the engine in? Somehow!??

I could probably live with the oil seal on the engine leaking for a while.. just means my clutch slips every now and then. I have spent 7 months or so building the car and just want to enjoy it for a while before I have to take it apart again! My main worry for now is not having oil leaking onto a hot manifold from the exhaust and also being able to start it when its hot!
