As in the title I\'m looking to get a turbo timer but don\'t have a clue on which one to buy, and how do they affect the alarm and imob???

Anyone ???:3Confused:3Confused

Turbo timers are pretty much a waste of time in FD\'s... Just drive moderately for the last couple minutes before you turn the car off and you will be fine.

Heat soak is a MAJOR issue in our cars... using a turbo timer to keep the engine running after you park is only going to exacerbate that problem and cause more harm than good in the long run. Seriously, just be mindful of your driving during the tail end of your trip and you\'ll be fine, plus it will save you some quid (or direct it towards something better for the car, like all new silicone vac hoses!!)

I\'ll reinforce the above. Save your money, save fuel, save annoying your neighbours and do your car a favour.

For the last 2 miles of your journey, turn on your aircon as this lowers water temps and drive nice and steady no boost. When you arrive just switch it off.

The same goes for warming up too, get in start up and drive sedately untill she is upto temperature, do not leave it running on the drive and then get in and give it beans, the transmission and diffs will be stone cold as will your tyres.

I hope this helps.

Ha ha, sir is pleased to jest! An FD with working aircon? Or even with aircon that hasn\'t been stripped out to make room for intercoolers or whatever? Yeah, ok then! :chat

Seriously, though, it\'s all good advice. My alarm has a turbo timer built in, but I almost never use it. You can just see, let alone feel the amount of heat it generates (rather than dissipates, lol) just leaving it running with no air flowing through, the air around the vents literally shimmers! I now do exactly what the guys said above, just drive gently at the end of the trip when there\'s still some airflow through the engine bay. I never warm it up as such, either, only as long as it takes to get it out the garage and close the door behind it, then I just drive sedately for a bit. Fortunately, its a good few miles before I get out of a built up area, so it\'s always nice and warm before I get anywhere I can give it beans.

Are you serious old man? That button is to step up the rad fans- functionality as such rarely exists!

Timmy

I\'m not a fan of turbo timers either but if you do get one, get an auto one that chooses how long to tick for. Other than that only ones built into the alarm system allows you to walk away from the car with it running or apparently with a bit of clever programing on some alarms you can out a delay on the immobiliser.

Eh? Does it? Wot button? None of my aircon (or ventilation buttons for that matter) seem to do even five percent of **** all! Its er, on my "to do" list. I kinda just freeze all winter and boil all summer, thought it was supposed to be that way. Mind you, we\'re tough, us bikers lol :Giggle. Or is that thick...
