Hey,
Well iv been playing about with the front lower arm of the drifter and had some really good results alowing more lock but its time for more. Heres comes the questions

How do the big FD drifters achieve there lock and how much lock do they really get?

how can you reduce the amount the leading tire leans over itself without forcing alot of camber into the wheel?
 - Currently, at full lock there isnt much lean on my leading wheel but once the wheels are straight there is alot of camber and your really running on the inner edge of the tyre. Under normal drifting its fine, but when it goes a bit wrong and your straight lining for a wall, there is no stopping power cause of the lack of tyre contact on the ground and the handbrake is the only thing that really dose anything. Which brings me to the next question.

Whats the effects of changing the upper A arms position relitave to the lower arms ball joint postion>
 - Moving the upper arm ball joint forward (ignoring any changes to the distance out from the chassi to the ball joint) would that reduce the lean on the inside wheel or is that just removing my caster?

Whats drifting with no caster like?
 - how much is caster a factor for drifting, will it just cause that car to not whant to straightin up to change direction? As in I will have to do all the steering instead of letting the car steer itself?

Oh and iv plans to cure going over centre to incase you ask

Hope that makes some sort of sence, there is thought behind my questions as you can see but am unsure how to make the next move. Them Nissans have some serious lock so why cant we do the same. Im hoping to make the changes over the weekend or the start of next week before i head to Germany for a wile so some sort of a decision will be made soon.
Any help would be great,  Cheers :burnout

leefitz send me an email at james _ db @ btconnect . com without the spaces.

Ive got a model of ann FC front steering set up which i can easily modify for fd. Ill send you some pics of how everything gets affected by moving various joins.

As for your original question. Caster has a large affect on the camber of the wheel through the turn. Though in drifting you want caster to return the steering wheel for you. If you look out out and out drift cars they run heaps of camber. as the the upper arm joint. Messing with that can seriously mess the handling of your car, its not something ive yet looked into
