Hey all,

I\'m thinking I\'m really going to have to get my motor rebuild / rebuild my motor (if I can be ar$ed given the lack of time at the moment!).

But in April I\'m off to Oz (Gold Coast) then "popping" to NZ (Tauranga) and stopping in Hong Kong on the way back.

I was thinking if I could get a full gasket set, 12 x Apex seals, corner seals, side seals and an O ring set, I\'ll be able to get them in my luggage (chuck out some of the gf\'s cloths and stuff ;) ), would it work out much cheaper?

It seems parts in these places are quite a lot cheaper than here, plus with the pound being pretty strong ATM...

Thoughts?

It\'s amazing what you can fit in your luggage if you really have to. Unbelievable as it sounds, a mate of mine managed to come back from visiting his sister in Florida with a pair of Marchesini 17" wheels for his Honda SP2 in his suitcase! Good job they were magnesium, I shudder to think what the excess weight penalty would\'ve been otherwise! The American dollar\'s so feeble he saved almost a clear grand (cost £1200 there, just over two grand here) over buying the exact same wheels in Britain. Better than trying to bring in a case load of moody Nikes any day

LOL! That\'s superb! I know the Motorbike team my dad works for took loads of spares over to the macau GP in luggage! This small clutches weigh a ton!

So any ideas of what country would be best? And where abouts? Obviosuly if in NZ then I can probably get the bit delivered to my GF\'s parents house and then spend some time packing everything in properly.

Assuming that your significant other\'s parents are in NZ (which makes you a very lucky man, possibly on more than one count, endless cheap holidays not the least :D ) that\'d seem the best option. My mate Mark with the SP-2 basically gets his sister to buy the bits he wants on her credit card and then pays her when he goes out there on holiday to collect them. He brings back stuff like this twice a year at stupid prices, Brembo brake master cylinders, calipers, even a carbon fibre airbox! I guess he has a big, sturdy suitcase!

Good point about the X-ray machine! Shame you can\'t see it like the one for hand luggage, it\'d be a good way of checking your wheels for stress fractures and casting irregularities for free!

Dont *think* NZ or Oz are that much cheaper on genuine Mazda stuff than you could get from say Dragon.

If you are going to be on the gold coast Dyson rotary arnt too far away. Why not spend th etime and give them a ring and a price the bits and bobs?? also do the usual ring aorund in nz. South coast rotary in wollongong in oz are good to deal with. I grew up a few miles from their workshop!

Nik, my gf\'s a kiwi so we often head to see her folks... It\'s certainly a lot cheaper but it still add\'s up to quite a big cost sadly. Saying that we book the flight very early so it really helps, this will be the 3rd time in 3 years and we\'re also heading out next year for a mate wedding! I should really be sorting out my air miles (not to mention my carbon footprint!).

Rich, I\'ll checkw ith Dragon I guess, see what\'s the going rate and then have a bit of a phone around.

Cheers Michael, it could be worth a trip for me then ;) Sounds like somewhere I should go checkout anyway :D Don\'t suppose you have the names of any rotary garages in NZ?
