Ok, just been wondering (as you do) whether anyone has actually bypassed the heating hose that goes to the throttle body?  I assume this is for defrost purposes or to stop fuel icing up as it enter?

However, i have a 2-stroke motorcross bike which has the same principle, albeit in a Carb and stops icing up of fuel when entering although i have got rid of this and the bike seems to work much better...

So, just wondering, if you didn\'t use the car in extreme cold, could you block this off or create a loop with the hoses to stop water flowing through the throttle body.  As i see it what happens is at the minute, hot air from the turbo\'s goes through the intercooler, which cools it down, and then through the throttle body, which is then gonna be heated up again somewhat due to the coolant flowing through it.....

Or has this been covered before or am i generally talking crap lol.....????

Yeah you can bypass the TB, but it makes bleeding the water system more difficult to bleed because that pipe is used to vent air when changing coolant. I cant really see the point but if you wanna do it,  Just run a pipe from the back iron plate on the engine block direct to the thermostat housing. I have heard of some people having cold start issues when it\'s removed though such as high idle even when warmed up, think it might just be the wax rod that needs adjusting though.

yup i have done it, you can bypass the throttle body with the pipe already there, so changing coolant shouldn\'t be an issue (not that i have done it yet) as for the high idle, it is due to the wax rod, as it isn\'t getting coolant and so wont let the cam adjust. I just took the thing off, and the car runs fine. starting takes marginally longer (as you effectively have to set the choke by your foot) but once started it idles perfectly (i have a pfc). will have minimal performance benefit, but i am a simple guy and i like to simplify the car as much as poss- if i don\'t need it, then remove it! also the rubber pipe you use to bypass the tb would be a perfect place to mount a sender for a water temp gauge, it is where i plan to mount mine once my gauges arrive.
