Hey, My Rx7 Fd backfires quite a lot. I do have a straight through exhaust is their a way to reduce this? and is does it when u accelerate at highspeeds and change gear on motorway etc. And can this cause damage?

cheers

Your car will be running rich bud, not sure how you cn cure it other than turning the richness down, but not the best of idears.. changing the plugs might help too..

it\'s not a back fire. Anyway you\'ll need a different exhaust system to get rid of it.

most FD\'s will flame with an exhaust on. what ecu do you have?? wont do any damage at all unless its overfueling really bad

Part of the fun of owning a rotary. Both mine do it to order :D Good sign its running a little rich which is usually safer on the engine.

depends on the fuel and the exhaust mate if you have a cat youll get nothing but straight thru and you get some lovely flames after a long dually i can take mine up to the limiter in third and i light up the dual carrigeway at night looks awsome:driving

Surely the crack and pop from the exhaust on gear changes is part of the fun of owning the car?  Not aware that is causes any damage, but I bow to those with more technical knowledge than myself.

You may just have a restrictive exhaust. Having a cat will strangle most pops and flames.

a de-catted car with a free flow exhaust should pop and bang to kingdom come. I know mine does. :Thumbs-up I\'d rather mine runs rich and pop/flame than lean and GO pop. lol
