Am getting a replacement UIM, and wondered if there are any subtle mods that are worthwhile doing before installing the whole thing?

Would smoothing and polishing the internal of the intake be worthwhile, for airflow purposes.

Brett

It all helps - there was a guy selling a modded throttle body on ebay a few weeks back.

 What other mods do you have done?

I think mine may have dodgy 5th and 6th ports, so another UIM seems wise, bit of modification before fitting. any suggestions really.

the 5th and 6th ports work from a vacuum created inside the dynamic chamber / UIM ??? , but do the also work off the pressure created from the air pump.

If so is there a way of electronically controlling them to open at a sertain rev range?

* heat exchange removal, straight through pipe welded in.
* K & N panel filter

I removed my Air pump and never had any problems - one thing you may want to do is beef up the earthing straps in the engine bay - it can reduce the flat spot thats around 3800-4000rpm ;)

 I\'d also recommed you get a decent set of headers to replace the thermal reactor.

i havent replaced the headers its just standard and then where the thermal reactor was theres a straight piece of mild steel pipe welded in to match the rest.

when you say earthing strap is there one under the UIM, to be replaced.  where are the other main ones? did you replace all of them?

Matts-gen2

will replace headers with stainless steel one day.

and the y-pipe. may see if the man who done the exhaust is cheaper, he does custom s/s exhausts.

big money, that will be the last of the mods i think.

Matts-gen2

are there any gaskets needed when changing the UIM or does it just bolt on?
