air pump removal

got my eye on some nice underdrive pullies that removes air pump with the addition of a blanking plate. dose this effect mot/emmissions and what sort of gains would i expect other than asthetics?
 
Also can the pipe that runs from the air box to airpump be removed and an individual filter placed on the AP if i choose not to remove it?
