Strange Problems

Got a few wierd problems with my 89 fc and just wondering if anyone can help?

1) The clock and warning display panel seams to of developed a mind of it\'s own! When I put they key in the ignition and turn it to position II no warning lights come on at all (apart from the handbrake light and dood adjar warning light if the door is open). I seem to remember all the lights lit up in my previous fc then go out one the engine has started. Also sometimes the rear fog light indicator comes (even though the fog light is not on) and the clock goes very dim.

2) The illuminated switches and dials have a habbit of blinking now and again I end up with no illlunated dials/switches for a short time and they all come back on! Doesn\'t happen all the time.

Any useful tips/fixes would be very welcome.
