ive got an apexi ecu, is there a software limiter on this? if so where does it kick in?
ive got a straight through exhaust, standard down pipe, decat and hks super dragger exhaust, is it normal for it to lick out flames when im guessing i hit the red line in 3rd.. went out for a run on saturday and my friend noticed it burst out when i was caining it..

i\'d say that was pretty normal to be honest. have you got commander on your ECU?

anthony

yeah i have a commander, its been mapped properly by pip as well..
i guess i havnt really had friends following me before to notice flames :)

Bobfish

flames are normal with a decat. I get huge ones, generally its when you boot it - exhaust has to be nice and hot, and its normally on lift off, not when you hit the limiter.

anthony

bobfish, when does it hit the limiter? i dont think ive found it yet

Bobfish

normally 8500, there is a setting in the PFC for it if you look on the commander under the "setting" section somewhere. I can find out for you later if you have a commander?

failing that just floor it in 2nd until you hit the limiter mate, it wont damage the car (if its been set properly, i.e not set at 11,000rpm or something haha)

the car will just go "bap bap bap bap bap bap bap bap" when you hit it and will stop accelerating.

anthony

yeah thing is it red lines at what 8? i def get up to around 8300 when i drive it, i think ill check the commander before i plant it in second, in case its not set :), how do u get in to the settings bit?

yeah i hit the software limiter when driving my other car, thats how i know how to change ;)

DO NOT GO LOOKING FOR YOUR REV LIMITER !!

It does the car NO GOOD at all to be bouncing off that.

You have been warned !!

the limiter is usually set at a point where it does not damage the engine, thats the whole point of it, sitting there bouncing of it would probably not do it much good after a prolonged amount of time, but putting your foot down and it hitting it should not damage the internals.

i was purely interested as to when its meant to be coming on, as i have not revved it high enough to notice, or its not set.

It will damage your engine eventually - its a fuel-cut limiter not an ignition-cut.

You really don\'t want to be cutting fuel on boost at 8k+ rpm  ;)
