As i was w8n 4 it to happen im not that upset, but it means no more drivin her until shes all built again. Yes it blew on me, nd i wasnt even drivin her :s.. the hose for the master clucth cylinder faild last week, had the car at the garage, waitin, got a call askn me to come remove the car, as they cnt store it for me. So called a mate of mine to tow her back to my house. Had the car on the whole journey (15minz), on the way the car just startd loosin revs, until it dropd to 200rpm, you could imagine how bad it was shakin, gave her abit of gas so she idles, felt very slugish, so i left it. 2 mins from my house, the warning light and buzzer came on, for add colent. I knew it then, shes blown. im guessin im correct their, cuz thats all i can think of.
So now thats happened, i get to choose the parts i use to rebuild the engine, nd thinkin of doin it myself. it will take me some tym, as i dnt have a vry gd cash flow at the moment (only 18) but im not gettin rid of her. so ny advise on parts, or how to rebuild her. all comments will be much appreciated.
Also how much am i lookin at spendin, for oem parts for a full rebuild (seals, rotor housings, rotars, etc) nd how lng would it take if i do it my self.

Thanks
Kaz

Yes money must be tight. Looks like you\'ve got a few letters missing from your keyboard... :p Jst kiddn! :p

Sad to hear that its blown. Still once it\'s rebuilt you\'ve got many miles of happy motoring!

until the engines been stripped, cleaned and the parts checked you wont know hw much its guna cost bud, a full gasket n seal kit are about £700, then you need seals, springs, ect... maybe £1200 depending on wether u need new plates, rotors...

Im guna rebuild a spare engine soon and have as a bckup until it happens to me, least that way a weekendswork and id be bck up n running again..

Sorry to hear about that, same thing happend to me last christmas, apart from mine involved an engine fire aswell the week later. All back up and built now though, not a better feeling in the world once youve done it yourself.

Thats harsh kaz! Especialy when you were just towing it, why dont you do the poormans compression test. least it should give you peice of mind that you have indeed thrown a tip and not some other underlying problem causeing you to run rough and low on rpm.

on the plus side you got a lot of rotor specialists down there :Thumbs-up
I woof in your general direction.

Hi every1, havnt been on for some time now. Jus finished the process of moving house. My parents chose the best time do so. Had to call up a tow truck to carry my baby. Anyway thanks for all the advise. Im definatly getting those dvd\'s as they sound like great help, and for the compression test how and where can i get it done? as i cant move the car around. Im looking for a garage at the mo to leave the rex in for a while, and then start stripping out the engine, as my parents will kill me, if i was to do it in my garage. oh and they dont know the engines blown yet :S.. just told them the clutch is\'nt fixed yet :p.. they definatly going to throw a fit once they find out. But im not getting rid of her. K well for the rebuild, it will take me some time, but been looking at past rebuilds on this site, and it just makes me want to start straight away, always wanted a project car, and as ive repiared the body work at first, would be gd fun doing the engine, even if that means late nite under the hood. ill let you know once ive started and then deffinatly be updating pics, oh and bothering you ppl for some advice, you wont mind would you? well its deff not going to be anytime soon, as im heading away to canada - montreal on thursday till xmas.. so going to be at the beginning of next year. but by then hopefuly ive read up alot on the engine, and watchd the dvd\'s 10 times so i know what im doing, (i hope :s).. thinking of heading to japan from montreal with my cousin, as he has some links their for some cheap parts. Keep you guys updated on that. Guessing you will want something, as the market their is sooo much bigger. anyway thanks for the help much appreciated.
