err...whats the o-ring kit... and the gasket kit and in what way does the o-ring kit differ from the contents of the water seal kit?
Also, i dont know if its the same on FCs, but you can get a main gasket kit which contains the water seal kit and most of the engine gasketts...its about 800-1000 off memory for an FD...i cant remember exactly how much...
just make sure you dont end up duplicating bits...ie if the water seal kit contains the o-ring kit, youre gonna end up with loads of duplicate o-rings...and similar, if the gasket kit contains the other 2 , then same scnario!

That looks like all of it. The O ring kit should contain the water seals kit.
It might be worth upgrading to fd spec corner seal springs and later spec stationary gear bearings with the oil windows in.

He would also need the REW stationary gear and REW front counter-weight, if he chose to change the bearings.

Yeah deffinately :) .  I will be using all Mazda OE parts and have just started shopping around for all the bits.  I will be up at WGT to pick up some new housings and the 3 plates which Pip is getting lapped for me (front plate was only slightly out and the rest where ok but decided to have them all done to get them in the best possable shape)

While i\'m there I shall pick his brains about what kit\'s are available and what they contain :)

Hi mate,  I will be using the FD type corner seal springs (the standard 13bT ones look pretty naff in comparison too!)

Ok, being honest the only thing I was going to uprate where the corner seal springs but considering other options.  I wont pretend I know so is this correct :

So assuming the new bearings give less resistance due to better lubrication? but only fit the Rew stationary gears and thus needs the correct counterweight?

What would the benefits of this be, reliability, more rev\'s?

While on that subject would here be anything else worthwhile finding about.  The object of the rebuild is to have a solid engine (for a 1st attempt at least) and I shall be using stock ports.  Power is always good but I shall not be going over the top - mods to suit it would most likely be full decat, new turbo, new ECU, boost controller, possably induction kit and neccessary fueling mods to suit.

I hear you bud - it was something I wanted to do for a long time.  Was another reason I brought the TII.  I\'m using it all as a steep learning curve as there is just so much that needs doing to it but at least I am in no hurry!

I have learnt much about the general layout of the car, rust, bodywork (including repairing a dented wing), spraying (not up to your standard yet!) stripping engines and how to swear with good effect! :spank
