Mark,
I need to get some disks and pads to get me through my MOT. Where did you get the quotes from ? £50 per corner sounds like a good price.

got the quote from a company in the states, if you just want standard you shoudl be able to get them down you local parts dealer, waiting times may be to long for shipping etc

The new cable turned up today jacked the car up and got ready to fit it but the more bits i took to bits the more it all seemed fine, had another good look at the caliper and the handbrake mecanisum, pulled it apart again put it all back together and the arm seemed worse, kept working it pushed the caliper back in and resigned to getting a new caliper, put everything back together and it all works fine!! dont ask me what has happened as i did nothing different to the first time, i did notice so of the thread missing from the push rod in the handbrake mechanisim so im going to get another caliper anyway but it all seems to work so im going to rebook the MOT for Wed (need to bled the brake again tomorrow night)

Hope its OK mate.
I never got to the bottom of why I had to set up the handbrake every year on our old S3 for the MOT, with only about 3500 miles elapsed each time. Funny but the S3 we\'ve got now is never any trouble, year after year, (but I\'ve always oiled/greased the handbrake clevis on the callipers every service).
