hi guys, just a quickie

my Fd starts up a little white smokey and continues for probably 1/3 mile from cold then clears. Is this the norm?

theres no white smoke when the engines hot.

i\'m probably being paranoid but water seals can be the death of this car :)

Kash_

yep your being paranoid.... all FD\'s have a little white smoke on startup from cold

i agree this tends to be the norm but i have never ever had smoke on startup only a puff of blue?

im sure yours is ok but a comp test would be best route along with a test to see if combustion gasses are in your coolant.

how much does a comp test cost? i\'m guessing any mazda dealer would do it?

m4drx

£40 mazda charge i think and near you i think there is one in mk that would do it, some tuners would do it for 20 etc but they are miles from you.

any garage/you could do the test on your coolant which would be the obvious one, very easy you just need the car cold and a tester which you can buy for a few quid or any garage will have one.

Mine normaly puffs smoke for about 15 - 20 seconds from cold start no matter what the weather is like, then on cool days it turns to condensation (like any other car on cold start)

Yeah puff of blue on startup from the oil in there then on a cold day a bit of condensation gets heated and moved out.

When I had both cats in I used to fog out the carpark - there was some serious condensation with them beggers!
