I\'ve read alot of different arguments on this and not sure which is correct -

Basically I have a FD on the way which is totally stock. The only petrol available to me is 95 RON. I intend to drive the car fairly hard and don\'t want to be worried about it.

Basically should I get a PFC and have it mapped to run 95 octane to prevent knocking or should the car be perfectly safe without it?

Edit - Forgot to mention it\'s a jap car

Thanks.

Yes you should get a PFC and mapping, it would want 98+ RON fuel as it comes.

Fish is right, 98 ron as I think Jap petrol is 100 ron.

So dont drive it hard until you get some good petrol even if its stock.

Good petrol is not available to me, I better pick up a PFC then

You could use octane booster while you are waiting but a pfc is definately needed unless you are wanting to pay for an engine rebuild that is.

Following on from that original question.....

A fairly standard FD with a Japan Modified ECU (make unknown) would it still be recommended to get an Apexi?

Or just make sure I put in Shell Optimax..abd maybe octane booster?

I\'d get it remapped - it\'s going to be very hard to find out what the modifications of the Japanese ECU actually are.

If you need/want to drive it beforehand get at least Optimax and be careful.
