D1 WTF

Quote from: GrizzlyI was shopping for at the end of last year and was put off but people telling me that the Gt3540 tops out at about the 350rwhp mark? Then people are now running more like 380-400rwhp? is this down to Porting/Hot side choice? also where does the Hybrid Turbine Wheels fit in??

i believe alot (most) of it is down to hot side choice, bigger the hot side the more top end bhp, however the more turbo lag.  its a comprimise, often big hotsides are used in drag racing etc, cause the revs are just kept above 5500rpm (or maybe higher) but big hotside wouldnt be so good for track/road as would be really laggy out of corners etc
IF YOU DIDN\'T CARE YOU WOULDN\'T BE LOOKING

BlitzBoy

key is to match the correct hotside to correct size of porting you have done, going too large on the hotside on stock ports is a no no

Yup, that\'s right! I have gregs old GT35R. He also mapped it. We might go out again to see if we can solve the ol\' boost controller mystery

Lum

nikp are you running a bov with your GT35? What about you other guys? I\'m unsure as to whether to run one or not?

nikp

I should be, but am not at the moment. I have been using the standard re-circ valve from the twin turbo setup, but i don\'t think it\'s up to the job, as i have heard the compressor stall quite often. I just don\'t want to pay silly money for one, so waiting for the right one to come along.

According to Tim, you don\'t really have to run a BOV, but he recommends one for the GT35R due to the small diameter of the spindle on the turbo.

Mines a Garrett GT 35/40 with mild street port and it was at 0.8 bar when dynoed.
I used it regularly, so didn\'t need mental power, though it\'s enough!!:Giggle

Pete, did re:worx set the boost controller up for you too?

I use the same but it doesnt seem to do much as the comp stalls all the time.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Ah, that confirms it then (Well, for me). BOV required! Bummer, more expense. Although, with a bit of help from Rixio, hopefully i should have an HKS one on the way.
