The PFC seems to be what (everyone?) chooses but I was wondering if anyone here is running a VEMS ecu?

The VEMS unit seems to be a cracking bit of kit with more functions than the PFC at a similar price and then there\'s all the extras you can add to it but it\'d be nice to hear any firsthand experiences with them on a rotary.

Any opinions of why you chose one over the other?

You might also want to have a look at the new Motec for 2 rotor engines.

I\'ve always assumed (possibly wrongly) that anything Motec was mega money (i.e. 000\'s not 00\'s) , any info on the Motec unit (It\'s the MLS you\'re referring to right?)

BlitzBoy

Never heard of VEMS who makes it?
I would either choose PowerFC or Motec for tuning a Rotary, as there is a lot of experiance and info in tuning both ECUs, plus if you have the required knowledge you can tune them via your own laptop and wideband

A few people are starting to run them on SXOC and it looks v promising IMO so I was wondering if anyone had tried on a rotary yet

Fish

The new Motec is circa £800 plus some other bits.

just had a quick read there is no support for the Rotary as our ignition setup is different to most cars, plus no indication on a loom for the RX7.
Plus looking at the price you might as well buy an Apexi

Could you explain a bit more about the differences please  Is it because of the second spark?

The price is the whole reason I\'m looking at it as a more advanced alternative to the Apexi :Thumbsup!

The rotary runs staged injectors, oil metering pump, split timing.

shows how much I know about the rotary engine - I thought it was just a simple case of getting the twin spark working :o

Thanks for the info :) (is there anywhere I can read up about all this?  I can\'t find anything properly technical about the system only stuff that glosses over the basics of the workings of the engine itself and not all the associated ancillary parts in detail)

I think your better off going for something proven like the motec.  There’s a lot more knowledge on it, and plenty of proven results.

That\'s definitely what I\'m thinking now, I doubt the Motec is worth it though as I\'m not planning anything major powerwise?

Well I\'ve started chatting with Rob who looks after VEMS in the UK and they can work with the rex :mmmm There are a few people in the states running them and one guy racing with VEMS, he\'s going to get more info off them for me.  They\'re working on a plug and play harness for the FD too so that might make things easier in the future.  It\'s all a while off before I\'ll need it so I can take my time to understand them before I decide either way

TwistedHumour

It\'s always interesting to see how new products perform :)

Good luck, and keep us informed on what you find out!

I will keep the updates coming as I find out more :yes, hopefully this\'ll end up being a decent alternative to the PFC.  There\'s quite a lot of doc on the website that I\'m starting to read through, I just need to start reading up more about the FD management systems :spank
