Help for the under 25s

After spending all this time ringing through all the insurance companies i could find to get a decent quote, i will show you my results so hopefully others can save the bother of ringing places that dont insure fds for under 25s.

I was asking for mileage of 2000 per year, no commuting, mods = air filter, 1992 fd worth 5k, cat1 alarm+immob, garaged, living in n/w london, 2 years ncb, 4 years driving, 21, sp30 - 3points £60 fine, no crashes, owned fd for 4 months.

Noel Dazley came up with the best, although it is expensive, i think by the time i get a year of driving the fd under my belt, a few companies said they might be able to insure me at 22, so hopefully some better quotes next year..

reading through that isn\'t good news for me unfortunately my fd insurance renewal is due in less than a week, and i\'m with noel dazely at the minute but won\'t be staying so looks like my options elsewhere will be extremely limited...

well just sorted my insurance and i\'m very happy

old insurance @ 19yrs, Pass Plus + 2yrs NCB with Ensign (Noel Dazely) - £2500

renewal quote @ 20yrs from Ensign - £3000

new cover @ 20yrs, 0yrs NCB, 1 accident claim, sp30 + 5 points, modified FD with aftermarket exhaust, with Haven (Fire Bond) - £2230 with £300 excess

nikp - yes i\'m happy with the deal i got now, most insurers wouldn\'t even quote me before with a clean license and no claims, today i spent hours ringing all of the "specialist" insurers for imports / high performance / modded cars and those that are supposedly good for young male drivers, and hardly any would quote me, those that did were quoting silly figures like £5000+. so to get my premiums and excess down this year i am very pleased as i really wanted to avoid going with ensign again.

kron - my old rx7 (i.e. on the first policy) was valued at £6500, and the new one at £7000.

That\'s with 1yr NCB, 22yrs old, and driving for just over 3 yrs.

I\'m not liking this insurance malarky, looks like I\'ll be better off as a named driver...

1895 is pritty good for only 1 yrs ncb, id be happy with that on a car which is over group 20.

tbh with you im gonna look into the classic car thing, cos this is my 2nd car, so don\'t really want to be splashing out too much on it for insurance.
I may just insure my mum on the car, so i can use the 4yrs NCB I built up there, and carry on with me on the Pug until I\'ve built a few more years up on that!

1024 with noel dazley via ensign at 22 - 3 yrs ncb, driving 5 years - fully comp - under 6000 a year, sp 30 a year ago..
and mods apexi ecu, hks bov,exhaust,air filters and carbon fibre bonnet.

mines with firebond rx7 import value of 9000 im 23 4 years no claims and 1400 fully comp!!!
