HI,

there have been a fair few threads on door locks and their probelms, but there are still a few things I can\'t find..

Is central locking standard? I have a 93 type R jap import.  From what I can see it is not standard, but I am not technical at all:Hammer

I have the door facia off, but the locking mechanism remains well hidden. I can see the bolts to remove this, but I have the feeling this could be fiddly to get back in... and a car with no locks...

Anyone got an experiences of this?

Cheers

There is only 1 door lock motor in the passenger door. The idea being you lock the drivers door with the key and the passenger door locks as well..bit wank for a £35,000+ car. The best place to fit an aftermarket solenoid is right under the drivers inside door handle.

One other thing, if you lock the drivers door from the inside, can you still open the drivers door from the inside(without unlocking it)?
I can do this on the drivers side, but the passenger side requries the door to be unlocked... is it broken or a safety feature???
Confused

Thanks Robbie.  Looks like someone has already done the solenoid hting drivers side, but at present nothing happens on the passenger side...
Additionally, the external passenger door release handle does not open the door, i.e. I can only open the door from inside the car. This was the reason I initially took the door facia off. I am guessing this is going to be a new lock unit..
