Hi

My drivers door lock does not open with the key, it turns with the key.  I can however lock it with the key alright.  It also does not lock or open with the alarm but this problem I was able to fix my self before..

I am waiting for a warmer weather to take the inside of the door to have a look at it, but I think that there is no access to the lock it’s self..

Is the lock it’s self easy to fix?  Has any one had similar problem?  What are the options?

Sounds like the lock itself needs freeing off you can find which part it is by taking off the door card and turning the key whilst making a note of which rod is moving.

Whilst you have the door apart undo the three 10mm spanner size nuts and pull the handle assembly away from the door and lubricate as the pivot seizes on FD\'S and the handle snaps.

Hope this helps
All the best Clive

Hi Clive

I hope you are well.

Thanks for that.  I am going to get a set of tools as one of my Christmas presents so over the weekend weather permitting, I will attempt to fix the lock.

I had this with my Boot lock, all i did was Keep spraying WD40 into it every time i went out in it for a cupple of weeks then i played with it (i used a new key becouse the Origanal ones have a habit of snapping) after a bit of messing it started to move again, then when it was free enough that it was opening and closing i stuck a load of Spray grease into the Lock and i\'ve not had a problem since.

It helps if you use it every so often, My Allarm opens the doors so i don\'t doubt the door locks will do the same on mine before long so before winter sets in properly i\'ll Spray Gease them all, its good if you don\'t use the locks alot as it gets on your keys and all over the place but the only other Alternative is Teflon Chain Spray you get for Push bikes.
