hiya,

I got my rexy mapped at WGT a couple of months ago, when I bought the car. Its a standard car, but it has a straight through exhaust and a greddy boost controller.

Basically since having it mapped, every so often under WOT I get the fantastic heat light flashing at me, it flashes 3 times which = det..so as soon as I see it I come off the throttle. Its only happened maybe 3/4 times in the past couple of months, BUT it is worrying me.

Now as the car has the boost set at 0.9 bar on high boost, and is using the standard fuelling system...would this indicate that maybe pip has mapped it a little bit too close for comfort, and the injectors are actually maxing out? How do I check to see the injector duty on the commander? As ive never actually touched the thing and dont want to mess anything up :Giggle

Cheers

I presume the commander is displaying some sort of information already?

If it is - press the \'prev\' button once.  The commander will then display 1,2,4 and 8 channels.

On mine, the inj duty is shown on the 8 channel mode, so go down and press \'next\'.  You will then see all the information that will be displayed.  If \'Inj Duty\' isn\'t marked, select it now.  Then press next and bobs your uncle!

When you go on a run, press the up arrow (I think) and it will display peak values.

I hope this makes sense (it does in my head! :p)

yup I think it does....so what sort of figures am I looking for? basically if the injectors are getting close to 95+% should I be very worried?

Also, in theory, as I have 2 boost settings and my low boost is 0.7bar, if I run the car in low boost it should never see det? (or if I do it means there is some other cause for the problem, not just maxed injectors?)

Oh, and if the injectors are maxing out on high boost, should I take it back to get re-mapped by pip? Will I have to pay again? ..coz it aint cheap :2eek

95% would be too high for me.  I wouldnt want to see above 85% - that\'s going by what I\'ve heard from other people.

I\'d run low boost just to be on the safe side.  I think it will decrease the chances of det.

If they are maxing out, I\'d assume that you\'d need to upgrade your injectors - although there may be another way.

Either way, I think you need to get it looked at.  The car is warning you for a reason!

i agree - i wouldnt want to see that sort of duty - there isnt a lot of room for error :(

You heat light is Flashing? How can this be if you have a Decat pipe? Usaly the Heat sensor is rolled up and hiding under the carpet some where?

And don\'t take this the wrong way but PIP!! Mapping with no room for error?? I think you must be thinking of another Pip.

Thing is it\'s winter now so the the air is Denser, you always find FD\'s going pop in winter becouse there set up in summer on the edge then winter comes round and sudenly they get very close to the 90\'s, if they are set to the 90\'s in summer you have a problem when the cold weather comes round.

TwistedHumour

Did you carry out the mods after it was mapped by Pip??  Or did you buy it with the mods on, and the car mapped for those mods?

erm, I have no idea...I thought that the heat lights acts as a det signal when you have a power fc ecu? not sure  how or why, but thats what i`ve read. Also thats what pip said to me, he said if it flashes get off the throttle as that is det? weird...

I`ll have a look at the injector duty later on, he did say when mapping it that he ran out of fuel, and i`d have to upgrade the injectors and pump. But I`m sure he didnt leave it unsafe.

The car was mapped as it is now, about 2 months ago..I havnt changed or touched a thing :)

Thing is if your car dets there is a fair chance it will do damage, you may be right about it flashing but seems a bit daft.

TwistedHumour

I\'d play it safe and give Pip a phone call.  If he says dont worry about it, you know its ok :)

when you have an apexi power fc, the flashing red light can mean numerous things, but most commonly, and i suspect in your case...

injector duty greater than 95%

or knock reading greater than 60

Getting old... Its not like it was in my day!

trevtubby

should I worry about those figures then?

If it were me, I would.  Try setting it to low boost and checking the figures again.

If they are still to high, then I\'d start thinking about upgrading my fueling.
