Im currently gathering a few parts for my RX7 before it goes in for it\'s rebuild in the summer.  One of the items i\'ve decided to go with is ross\'/dragons v-mount kit (Ross I will be contacting you soon! :Thumbsup! ).  Now I dont want to re-locate my battery to the cabin, basically cause I dont want too but there will be no space for the original one when the v-mount is installed.

I was looking at the rotary extreme site and they look to use one of these in there installs:

It looks to be an Odyssey PC 680 battery.

Now i\'ve been having a look at a few UK sites and the closest match i\'ve found has been these (was looking at the 680 versions):

Now do you guys think that any of these will be suitable and are there any disadvantages of using this type of battery??  Ross your input would be of great help too if you see this thread.

Ta guys. :Thumbs-up

I am running a redtop 25 battery in mine with the same v-mount kit ross does. However, i have had to place it on the drivers side, and not the original passenger side.

QuoteWhy not move it into the boot??

Why move it into the boot when you can fit one in the engine bay?

A very cheap battery that works fine and is small enough is a Nissan Micra:eek  befoe I went for the relocation I had one of these and it was fine from memory it was around £45.00 and the terminals are the same as the FD you would have to mod the tray and the method of holding it in place. HTH

I had an Odessey battery put in to mine, looks a similar size to that one in the picture.

Has more cranking power than normal battery. Plus the major benefit is it actually fits and allows me to run a FMIC and new Rad.

I was looking at relocating mine to under the passenger seat. Aren\'t these the type that if they go completely flat they are ruined, and won\'t hold charge any more?

Yes, technically they are. I have a red top 25 which apparently will not re-charge when it goes flat. However, it has gone flat several times on me, and re-charged fine. It\'s because they never go \'completely\' flat on a car: they just lose enough juice that you can\'t start it. Unless there are periods of time where you don\'t use your car for long periods (like weeks on end) you will be fine - and if there are periods like this, then just un-connect the battery, they don\'t lose charge if they\'re not plugged in to anything.

I would but the idea of running the battery wires into the cabin then having to mod the rear storage boxes just seem like a load of hassle/time when I could still have it under the bonnet only in a smaller version.

Granted the odyssey batteries arnt cheap, but when you consider how much a relocation kit would cost in money and time, then the battery seems quite a reasonable alternative.

Here\'s a couple of pics of my Odessey Battery (its a PC680 I think) cost just over £100 so not REALLY expensive

Sorry the photos are a bit rubbish, but I took them on my phone

Nice, where abouts did you order it from if you dont mind me asking?

gonzoninja

aaah I didn\'t order it, the guy who fitted my front-mount and Rad bought it as part of the install.

I\'ll ask him on monday
