i used to work for NetBanx a secure Credit card payment company - much more professional than Pay Pal.  I still know the guys there and should be able to get a good deal if the club is interested???????

Well done chaps l think this is a great idea and l am sure Glenn will feel the same but we have got to make sure and get the mechanics of it to work properly  and securely so we can\'t lose anyone\'s money !!.

We may need lots of help to set this up properly on site though,

This one of the great things about MRC having the forum because it means we are able to get more people involved via the ideas they have and by this the club should never stagnate.

You never know this may bring us more full  members from overseas due to the ease of joining.

We need input please, good or bad  to know if this can be a viable system, one thing l can see is that lt may cost more for people to join this way due to possible fees that may be incurred on top of the normal joining fee ??.

I think its good.  Id have joined ages ago if I could of just payed on paypal or online.

It might cost extra, I dont know figures but Paypal states them on the site.  As long as its not too much, us lazy people would pay it.  Id pay a couple of quid more than having to find an envelope, stamp, write a letter post it etc.

Paypal fees

High estimate 71p charge on £15 if im not missing anything, it says buisness accounts can accept card payments

Looks pretty easy to set up a buisness account, went through some of the steps

Hope this helps

I don\'t know what sort of banking you have setup, but if you have a merchant account that will allow internet transactions setting up worldpay is simple :)  Not sure how much it costs in setup charges - which may be a problem, but it\'s 4.5% on a transaction (IIRC) and you can let their site take care of all the security stuff.  Wouldn\'t need any user input, just a button linking to the appropriate part of their site, after a completed transaction you will have an e-mail with the purchasers name, address, etc.

I have nothing to do with them in any shape or form, just happen to have setup a site using them recently.

Going on from my post. The set-up costs for this would be £75 + vat. Simple to set up and very easy to track whos paid and their details.

You would need to charge about £16 a year to cover costs. Monies get paid directly to your bank account each month.

Security is high no-one has been able to hack or disrupt the system in 6 years.  The details are not stored or passed to anyone, the system communicates with the bank through a dual 128 bit encryption system.

Hi Gman!

Sorry (Lisa sent me the email on this).

The only thing is I had a look through NetBanx - is the £75 for one type of transaction only?  as I want to have the option in the near future of selling more items.

Can you clarify?
Thanks,

mr_tim

i do like the idea of online payment. i would have paid ages ago had it been an option, but i don\'t think more could be charged could it? it\'s less admin for you guys once it\'s set up i would have thought.

I was (well still am) a member of Honda Revolutions who offered online/offline memberships. The online ones paid less and got pdf news letters. offline had paper newsletters sent out.

Gman

Yes £75 is the set-up if you only wanted to offer the membership through the site.  The next option is £125 setup for up to 10 items but no variables.  If you were looking to sell items such as stickers, t-shirts etc then a shopping cart may be an idea - you have to buy the software you want to use but NetBanx can integrate with some of these for as little as £99.
