Had a search through MRC and couldn\'t find anything directly talking about this type of upgrade.

Found for sale on RX7.com the up-rated 1999 spec twin sequential turbo\'s.

I\'m assuming this would be a direct replacement bolt on upgrade for any pre 1999 FD? That is assuming you have an Apexi Power FC, or would the standard ECU 8bit or 16bit cope with this upgrade?

Is there any other engine modification you would need to worry about from a pre 1999 spec engine to cope with the extra bhp?

At about £1300 this might not prove to be a cost effective or power effective upgrade compared to the cost of going to a large single turbo?

What are your thoughts / ideas on this?

Thanks,
Jim.

£1,300 for a set of \'stock\' twins which won\'t really gain much over a full exhaust, filters and PFC on pre-99 cars is a lot of money to throw away imo

All depends on what you have on your car currently, but personally I wouldn\'t really bother, you\'d be best keeping that money aside for other mods like a larger IC or any of the above

i have a set on my Fd at the moment and i did a bit of reading up, the Pro\'s are you get a bit more air flow for a set PSI of boost and they are a direct swap. There good if like me you have Apex Damage to the Turbo and need a replacement or a rebuild as its an Improvement that does\'nt can be run safely with the stock fuel system (oviously set up on Rollers).

The Con\'s are they don\'t have a 360deg bearing in so there still limited to 1 bar of boost.

This is why people buy Uprated Twins with 360\'s in rather than than fitting 99 spec RZ Turbo\'s.

If i had £1300 and wanted a Bigger turbo i\'d be looking at the second hand Single market, you\'d be better off with a To4S/To4R/GT3540 but don\'t forget any increase in Air flow through the engine will need more Fuel etc Too.

if you like your twins like myself, I would recommend you to go with BNR Strage3 turbos or knight sport RF420.

more flow and will only restrict on the exhaust side. Power over 400 hp is possible with no problems.
