Hiya chaps - i dont post in this section a lot :D - so bear with me

i have just bought some coilovers for the FC

and im wondering how do you actually set them up ??

i have had a quick look at them and the are height adjustable - with what looks like a grub screw to lock them tight and some adjustment knobs

they also come with front adjustable pillow top mounts ( if thats what they are called )

so , as the post is titled - how do you adjust them ??

is it a case of just fitting them to the car and seeing what happens ?

how do you set the ride height - do you wind the big nut thingy to the BOTTOM or to the TOP

how do you set all 4 for height .. just count the number of threads you have showing ??

how do you know where to set the pillow mount thingy ? just dead centre to start with ?

once they are fitted - will i need to remove them to alter the height ? i have seen C spanners been asked for .. what exactly are these

i have no idea how to adjust the damper thingy as there are no numbers on it - so not sure about this !! LOL

sorry for the garbled post - but this is completly new area for me

blimey stu, you post too many questions in one hit.... :xconfused

without seeing them i cant tell you how to adjust the height but you should be able to adjust them on the car,  you normally use C spanners to lower the smaller locking nut and then wind the bigger one up or down to the desired height. you can adjust the height without c spanners but be careful not to break them big nuts.

before you fit them make sure the shocks are the same length as the stock ones or a little lower depending on what you want.

Set the damping to the same on each pair (if damper adjustable). As for the pillow ball mounts, you need to set them the same but will need 4wheel alignment to set the camber up properly, would be worthwhile as you have done the rear bushes.

Edit,  just looked at the piccy,  what ever hold thats gold collar in place needs loosening, you then just wind that up or down accordingly
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

thanks for the answer - the shocks only have one large nut - BUT - its held in by a grub screw - not sure why its done like this ??

plan is

1 - as they have come off a TII - gonna leave the height as it is - will count the threads showing on one of them - and set the rest to that ( although not sure if i can do that with the backs ??? )
2 - im gonna leave the damper adjustment alone - as i have no idea what this is set to - so dont want to ruin it
3 - the camber plate - the plan with this is to set it dead centre
4 - get it 4 wheel aligned ( somewhere !! )

how can i check them for length against the origs - just measure from end to end - is it really that simple ???

Thanks

stu

the fronts wont be the same length as the rears so set them up as pairs rather than all four.

If they have been on an FC, then just check both pairs are the same length by counting the threads as you mention and fit them.  You can adjust them quite easily once on the car to get the height right.

set the camber plates as you said.

you need check the damper settings are the same. You shouldnt be able to mess it up.

most of the ones i have seen use a second nut to lock the first in place but these obviously use a slightly different system to lock in place but adjust the same

cheers tony :D

i feel better about fitting them now :D

although it could take me 3 months to get around to it !
