Due to a split fuel line I had a large engine fire several weeks ago.....luckily nothing major was destroyed, mainly vacuum lines and a few solenoid valves. I\'ve replaced the valves and all vacuum lines, and the car started on the first attempt after doing this.
The problem I\'m having though is that when I drive the car now I can only build the revs up very gradually.....if I put the foot down any more than a little, all power dies and it starts to backfire. Driving it by very slowly accelerating, there doesn\'t appear to be anything wrong and the revs keep building right up!
The same thing happens even in idle, I can build up the revs very slowly to any level but if I try to bring them up anyway fast they just die off at around 3700ish rpm and return to idle. I have no idea what I should be looking for at this stage as I\'m pretty sure all the solenoids are working fine....could a sensor have been damaged in the fire??
The car is a 92 fd and has had a rebuild only 2k ago so turbos and internals should all be fine!
All ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Sounds like the map sensor to me.

Rixio

Yep i agree map sensor...

Also what you can do is take the battery off, press the brake a few times, leave it for 10 mins, then hook it all back up and it should solve it, might just be the ECU needs resetting that all. Had the same thing with the red one when i changed the relays and fuses

HTH
