Quick question about wiring from the pump directly to the boot mounted battery:

a) Is it ok to drill through the cradle casing where the stock wire plug comes out of (to allow the wiring to leave the tank) with sufficient sealant to cover any gaps on top?

b) Is it worth leaving the original wiring intact on the pump terminals as well as the new upgraded thicker cables, or best just to ditch them?

I\'ve got a wiring kit with fuse from halfords - thought it should be something I should do as I\'ve already got the pump out, cheers.

i used std wiring on cradle

i just used the wire from the car loom as the on switch for my relay and then the relay wired direct to the battery.

14.4 v @ the pump

but there is a pump inline on the lines on mine also

Okey dokey, thanks mate.

My thinking was to junk the 16year old wires altogether and as my battery is in the other corner of the boot to use that as a direct feed.

You do

but you use the std wiring to power up the relay just to turn it on so that it works as std.

so on a 4 pin relay

one pin is earther
one pin goes to live on your battery
one pin goes to live on your pump
one pin goes to live from the original wire.

this means that the power is coming direct from the battery to the pump.
