Hi,

In my "re-doing the rats nest" thread, i may have mentioned that the Double throttle control solenoid was broken already before i removed the nest.

Basically, it had broken such that the pipe that came from the UIM into the front of the solenoid had sheared off from the solenoid....

now i got 2 questions...well 3 about this.

1. If the solenoid is disconnected, does it jam the secondary butterflies open or does it jam them shut? (im assuming open for the time being which id normally assume...removing the hose on the secondary butterflies on my integra made the secondary butterflies jam open so im assuming same principle?)

2. Can the broken pipe cause a scenario for leaking boost pressure since the broken pipe comes off the UIM....the pipe that broke off is venting to atmosphere. atmosphereic pressure is likely to be lower than the presure in the LIM so surely air would vent ot of this hole?

3. Assuming my theory for part 1 is correct, is there any way i can just blank off the DTC?

Thanks

nikp

It will be open by default.

You should try and cap the solenoid off, as it is effectively an air leak, which could cause you problems.

thanks for the reply nik....do you think it could be whats casing my boost probems (not bosting properly on 2nd turbo and not properly on WOT)

nikp

Unlikely, but you never know. It certainly won\'t help. I would suggest getting your rats nest done, then make sure everything is in tip top condition: spark plugs, air filters, oil filter, fresh oil, HT Leads (These can cause weak spark and missing firing at higher revs, particularly WOT - I had this).

Then once you\'ve done this, you can start trouble shooting.

hmmi spoke to pip and he said the same about it not making a major difference.....its got new sprak plugs, new oil and filter...

ive decided im just gonna plug the double throttle control off and remove it from the system completely...pip said it does create a little bit of laziness on the first turbo thats barely noticeable, but i can live with that.....
