Oedipus Rex

can anyone tell me what kind of power they are as stock, how easy they are to coax more power out of and generally sell them as a car to me

cheers

12.2 @ 119 mph  @ 1 bar with full stock trim and weight and original turbo II engine with a mild street port.

It cost me £600 to buy and has a floor plan in one piece.

See my post in the 2nd Gen Mods and result thread.

Are you sold yet??????

stock they are 200 ish fwhp at 7 psi
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

TII vert with HKS mushroom, Racing Beat Exhaust and JAP tuned ECU replacement for the above mods - car knocks out something like 250 bhp at the fly now.  It\'s not quite as quick as an FD - but they don\'t do that in lid-less.

Car is the heaviest of the 7\'s, but still beats pretty much everything off the line - TT\'s, Z3 / Z4, SLK 230/320, Boxters.  Great fun seeing the look on someone\'s face when your 16 year old car takes them  :Giggle  :Giggle

There is much that can be done to increase performance - the basic engine block should be able to manage upto 400bhp, the rotor housings are not quite as strong as the FD / Cosmo ones.

Stock intercooler is crap and if you want to go to 300 and beyond it must be replaced with an uprated or FMIC one.

Stock turbo runs out of steam arond 12-14 psi, but wastegate can be ported for better boost handling, and the compressor wheel can be swapped for a T04B 60-1 for big power with no exhaust mods.  Otherwise the whole manifiold / turbo setup can be swapped out.  Costs for these are 1) free - it\'s just the time it takes, 2) about £400, 3) about £700.

There are aftermaket ECU\'s for the FC - the Apexi is more expensive in FC form, but apparently the FD one can be used with a lot of wiring changes !  There are also Haltek and Microtec, and no end of piggy back units.  Injector ranges are the same as for FD, but the injectors are top feed not side feed - these can be picked up for about £90 a pair on eBay for any size upto 1600cc.

Because of the age of the car, there are a lot of good parts around on eBay and from tuning houses - depends how big your pocket is !  :)

Then it\'s all down to the looks of the car - it\'s not as curvy as an FD, but some folk like the 80\'s look :cool

i have a S4 t2 cabrio which has the same interior similar to that one (i.e leather seats but mine has red piping) theres absolutly NO rust anywhere! in fact i have owned newer cars and they are never as clean underneath as this cabrio! mine is white too and the colour suits it down to the ground.

when i got it it had an engine with a blown manifold gasket and a rear rotor running very poor compression -  i fitted a new engine in it - one i KNOW runs perfect (from a donor car) and gets 7.5\'s all round on the compression test - but for some reason after the conversion it wont start - apparently they are a bitch to start up after you move the engine over - it has coughed a couple of times and ran for a few seconds but hasnt fully got going!

the car itself is in pretty good condition - s5 rear lights - hood works but has a minor split which can be repaired, and the body work is fantastic too no major dents just one trolley ding -

you can take it off my hands for £1800 in its current state - it will be worth much more (maybe about a grand more at least) as it is one of the better examples out there. wont need any money spending on it as i have pretty much done that!

come and have a look your only up the road from me Oedipus!

give me a bell mate and I\'ll come down. I was saving for an FD but I can\'t be arsed waiting and a cabrio will suit me well for the summer.

thinking of going to have a look. Anyone know this car?

That\'s a nice looking motor !

Must be one of the last UK spec ones to be registered - K reg quite unusual - they are mostly G, H and J reg.  They only did the convertible for 4 year period 89-92 in the uk as far as I know.
