Are we all agreeing that fully synthetic is the way to go then? Am I ok to continue to use Mobil 1 15w 50 Motorsport Formula, fully synthetic.

What a bloody mind field owning one of these cars is!!

Do a search, lots has been said, but it needs to be a double ester based oil to be good, Royal Purple and Motul I believe are. The rest are not true fully synthetics. Read oil mans threads he says it all in them.

chris@yoco

i am so lost now !!

so many differant things are said not sure what to use now for my next oil change

This is shocking!

People saying mineral is best, others say fully synthetic but its not really synthetic.

Everyone list what oil they are using and why.

Mobil1 15w 50 Motorsport Formula Fully Synthetic. Jap Mechanic told me too!!

We only sell Royal Purple, is crudentials speak for them self, have a read hear

and here

If you read some of the post from Oilman, you will read he says that lots of fully syn oils are not, and says they are hydrocracked. Not good. Read his posts.

We only sell one great oil, thats is used in professional motorsports with huge success, that is we believe better than any other on the market, is best for rotary as well as piston cars. No confussing tech papers, the oil just speaks for itself.
John from FDUK has been using it for 4-5 years and now has probably the oldest original engine in an fd and is now with single turbo, at Rockingham last year with the Jap drift guys were excited when they saw Royal Purple on our stand. All our rotary\'s run on it and with no problems.

The great oil debate will go on for ever, some will bury there heads in the sand and say "dont touch what dont need fixing" as they use mineral oil because its cheap and for no other reason, and each garage will sell you what they have in stock.
Only you guys can make your minds up what you want to use, whether it be based on cost, experience, or whatever.

Castrol GTX 10w40  Mineral.  Why?  Cos WGT said my engine rebuild would be void if I used Synthectic!!

And thats because there are synthetics that are not fully syn or hydrocracked, there are lots of cheap syn oils that probably no good. But to keep a warentee is a good reason.

Castrol GTX 10w40 Mineral as well. Why? because it\'s what a fair few people and means that I dont try and go for a synthetic only to find out its not!  :D

I will most likely make a switch to Royal Purple one day!  I will for sure be using it from the word go in the TII

chris@yoco

so really when it comes down to it you use the oil you feel too if it\'s either synthectic or fully synthectic or mineral

When my car is rebuilt, I will be going for mineral. I believe it is the most compatible with the rotary, and providing you do an oil change every three thousand, and treat the car right, you will be rewarded for years.
