Although we had two FC\'s (Both Cab\'s) run at RS3 this weekend, no one has yet broken the 100mph barrier.
Although Gareth and Stu both got through scrutineering, a combination of knackered Clutch master cylinder/slave cylinder and some untimely rain robbed them of the chance to run.

Still, theres plenty of other drag events going on this year, so its more than possible that someone will get it all right and do something amazing down the strip.  :burnout

The two who ran were Prof and Red Beast (well done in the show and shine btw), I think Prof managed 89mph, but I\'ll let him give us a full run down when he reads this.  Good effort from all involved!  :driving

It\'s a shame Stu and Gareth didn\'t get to run, I wanted to get another run in as well, since this was the first time I dragged the car so I had no clue where to change gear.

I found there was a lot of slip in 1st / 2nd gear, so I was quickly in 3rd which meant relying on the car\'s power to haul me down the line !

Things I would do different ?

a)  Don\'t bother so much about reaction time - I got a much better run 2nd time, but with a worse reaction - also it doesn\'t affect your ET
b)  Get the right amount of Rev\'s up to start - I would say between 2-3K is enough, and snatch 2nd quickly
c)  Use 2nd for a bit longer, as I noticed on both my runs it\'s the first part of the 1/4 that let me down - the vert is heavy, and takes a bit of pushing to get moving.
d)  Hold it in 3rd for as long as you can - the last run I only changed to 4th just before the boards, and was only just hitting 7600 RPM.
e)  Take some air out of the rears - there was a lot of wheel slip early on.
f)   Go on a diet - at 16.5 stone, I am the biggest weight penalty in the car!  :Giggle

I reckon I could have got it down to the mid 15\'s with just a few more runs, and maybe down to 15 dead, as the car felt like it had more to give.

Still the coupe boys should have a weight advantage !

Well if you guys dont get you\'re arse in gear and win this, I\'ll be back with another FC and do it for you! :p
I thought you did good Prof, especially for a first timer.

Prof : when i ran the first time ( RSI ) i had a pretty stock car - only work done was the main cat removed from the centre of the exhaust

i got mine down to 15.03 - which is pretty close to what mazda say it should be

i know what you mean about 3rd gear though - that was my main prob

im gutted that we didnt get to run :(

and the clutch - yeah thats a ball ache - but it ran FINE thru about 4-5 miles of standing traffic and all the way home - it just played silly on the drive

this sounds silly - but if you leave it standing for a few mins running - thats when it does it ????

400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Nik here,

I saw some TII Coupe\'s running yesterday. Two that spring to mind instantly are Jay and Tony.

What did they get?
