Just been checking the MOT certificate - I know, how sad is that ! :(

Weight is shown as 1560 Kg !!!  :2eek  :2eek

I thought the weight of the Vert was nearer 1460Kg - so was my weigh-in with a bloater of an MOT tester sat in the car, or have I gained some extra weight ?  :3Confused

BTW - I don\'t think it\'s my iPod :D

if the 1460Kg was a book figure it was probably a dry weight, add fuel, water, oil etc. and they get a bit heavier (+ the manufacturers tend to tell lies when selling cars :eek )

Prof

How much does a tank of fuel weigh ? - although I was only a 1/3rd full for the MOT in any case.

MikeLMR

about 737g a litre

oil is about 880-940g a litre

water is of course 1Kg per litre

Prof

So assuming 20litres of petrol, 5 litres oil, about the same for water (in all the bottles and the coolant)  That gives about 15+4+5 = 24 Kg

Let\'s assume the toolkit, jump leads air pump and stuff come in at 10Kg

That still leaves a hefty 66 Kg\'s somewhere - so maybe the MOT guy is not so big after all !!!   ;)

are you sure they weighed it ? or did they go off the data plates on the car ? some of those are fully laiden weights.

Prof

Really not sure to be honest Mike - it\'s in the brake test section.  I hadn\'t noticed it before on the last one.

Pleased with the emissions though - I\'m chucking out half the junk that a fella at work makes out of the back of his Vauxhall - which is with CAT and has just had it\'s first MOT !  :eek

I got 0.44% CO and 244 ppm HydroCarbons - so my car is practically farting fresh air ! :D

Thanks for the petrol / oil weights.  Probably doesn\'t make much difference as I weigh in at 105 Kg so my 1/4 mile will not suffer much - That\'s the problem with Beer !  :guinness

i help the guy mot my old MGB the other day and we had to look up the weight of the car on a wall chart,
[took a while because it was listed under Morris] so they don\'t actually weigh the car just get an approx. weight off the chart.

Prof

Are - so it could be off a chart - Thanks grant.

Does anyone know of a weigh bridge near me - Surrey / Berkshire / Hampshire border ?

Be nice to know the actual weight! :cool
