Question for those running front and v-mount setups, are you still using the stock fan setup or aftermarket fans?

I cant get my head around the wiring, going from 4 wires to 2 and making sure that they going to the correct connection on the relays.

So how did you wire yours in?

Thanks

were the standard ones two speed ones or did they have two fans that cut in at different times ?

I presume you are using a new relay for the aftermarket fan/fans so this is how I would wire it in.

Find the old positive feed to the old fan that came in first, run this into the feed for the switching coil on the relay, then connect the other side of the relays switching coil to earth. Now the relay should close when the ECU turns on what it thinks is the old standard fan.

Then take your fused feed from the battery to the switched side of the relay and connect the feed to the fan on the other side of the relays switched contacts.

No idea on the wire colours for the standard fans though, anyone got a wiring diagram ?

If you have a datalogit then you could set the rad fans to come in at say 5 degrees, then just check the voltage of each connector with the ignition on to get the right ones;)

I think they could be two speed as std as they definitely have 4 connector per fan on an FD.

Mike, as Wav said they are multi-speed fans. I am trying to retain the stock relays, but it\'s not looking good for that idea.

The stock fans are 4 wired, the new are just 2. :(

Wav, I just would like them wired up better than they are at present.

anyone got a wiring diagram so we can work out what the 4 wires are for ?

Could be all sorts of variations eg.

one earth
one low speed feed
one high speed feed
one ???  could be a feedback signal for the ecu ? could be another earth ?

OR

you could have a main 12v feed (thick wire) and two smaller signal wires which just switch low and high speed and a second thick wire for the earth.

If its wired like that it might be difficult to use the standard wiring without extra relays.
