Hi there, I\'ve long been toying with the idea of buying me a RX-7
and one has recently appeared on Autotrader which ticks most of
the boxes for me (Pretty standard, 99 spec nose and spoiler)
http://dealerservices.autotrader.co.uk/GetDealer.do?did=27593&pageid=1
It\'s the black \'96 car on that link.
I\'ve been emailing the guy at the dealers for info etc and it seems to be
a nice car, good compression test results etc.
Just wondering in you guys think it\'s a decent price for what it is.
It hasn\'t been rebuilt to the best of my knowledge but does have Apexi
tip seals.

Any thoughts would be most helpful,
Cheers

I have no idea what the Apexi tip seals are? sounds made up to me, but i could be wrong. What were the compression figures. Its a stunning looking car and has some super touches but without a rebuild i do feel that its a bit over priced. :driving

Quotin the email the guy sent me...........
"Yes it has been compression checked by our mechanic in Japan and the
readings are very good:  Throttle open 130psi & throttle closed 178psi.

Upgraded Apexi tip seals fitted.
Apexi exhaust
adjustable suspension
Upgrade 18" alloys"

I\'m kinda concerned aswell that someone might sort the model report issue
out in the near future and proper 99 spec cars will become available.
That would make this one seem very expensive.
The  reason I\'m so interested in this one is the fact that it\'s got the 99
spec bits and it\'s in one of the required colours (silver or black)

Im no expert by any means, but that sounds wrong. An engine near a rebuild is typically around 6bar on each rotor around 88.2 psi. A stong engine that is around 7 bar or 102.9 psi and the most you could expect from a new engine or rebuilt engine using new parts is around 8 bar although some japanese engines have seen around 9 but even at the highest 9 thats still only 132.3 psi.  :2Confused

I think he means Uprated Apex seals.

Its important to find out Where it was done (Recipts) and what Uprated seals where used as some are not as good as STD Mazda Ones.

The Purple one looks ok, Thats had the attention of Tim @ Rxmotors so as long as he has Recipts you\'d know the engines Good.

moosey

Hmmm
More questions to be asked so.
thanks

Grizzly

I\'d always look at it this way, If there selling a car with a Rebuild recently unless i know the guy and take his word i\'d want recipts for the work or i\'d be looking to cover the Cost of a Rebuild.

If he\'s legit but has misplaced them he can ring up the guy who rebuilt it for him and get copys, 99% of Tuners keep records of such things.

Well as it\'s a fresh import on the boat, I wouldn\'t hold out too much hope for
that sort of info.
Startin to get cold feet now...........

If I were in the market for an FD with around 8.5k to spend, [if I\'m looking at the right ad] I would seriously consider looking at Clives ex car. Currently up for sale with Hayward Rotary, [banner at top] Most of the ppl on here will know it and agree it\'s pretty stunning and would come with a 2 year engine warranty, you would have to like yellow though.

John
I started with nothing and I have most of it left

Grizzly

Well its worth asking as he\'s got one for sale thats been rebuilt by Rxmotors?

I spoke to Carl about the Yellow one. I do like it in yellow but the trouble is
he\'s not too keen on taking my current steed as PX cos he wants more cash
his way, which is fair enough. I just gotta get rid of mine and there hasn\'t been
that much interest. That\'s why the black one is tempting cos they\'ll take mine
as P/X.

And Grizzly, I did ask if had been rebuilt but didin\'t get an answer, I\'ll have to
ask again.

shafster

what car are you px\'ing it with?
