After a tip off from stu (grinder) for a cheap engine to take to bits i went and had a look at this on fleabay :

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAZDA-RX7-BREAKING-SPARES-USED-PARTS_W0QQitemZ4642158235QQcategoryZ10376QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The thing is the car was good enough to have a couple of jobs done to pass an mot and it got scrapped  :Grrr  The bodys been ruined by being lifted by chains  :Grrr

Sorry rant over...........................

The engine is in very good condition, the carb under the filter is perfect in condition, not a speck of gunk in it ! It looks in very good condition.

The biggest question is just what would it be worth ???? Im only really looking for a project engine to see what goes into a rotary and i was expecting it was scrapped because the engle had thrown a tip or seazed, but it doesn\'t look to be the case.

I offered him 100 quid for the auxilliaries and the gearbox (cheeky i know) but he said it would be at least 200 for just the block and nothing else !

If anybody wants to buy it then so be, but what is it actually worth ???

Cheers

hummm thats the prob buddy - the engine is prob worth £200 if its a runner - but you only want to be looking at about £50 tops for it :(

i cant believe it was scrapped if it was OK .. such a shame

Like i said to the scrappies its a real shame its even in the scrap yard. If I had a 1st gen without an engine i would probably snap his hand off for it. Looked a very nice engine from the outside. I was cheeky to say 100 quid for the engine and gear box trying to make it as easy for them to remove it :p

He did say for 400 quid ish i could probably have the whole car, but hes ruined the shell by lifting it up with chains through the roof and its just not worth it !

I agree,£200 for the whole car, that reasonable seeing as though its a non runner and worth Jack really. You can find complete cars for £500........

hello

id be offering him no more than 200 pounds for the whole car too as if it was any worth to him he wouldnt have used chains or a forklift to move it about there yard

Its such as shame as it probably would have brought a good price on flea bay. I think i\'ll just forget about it and sort out my engine brace !

Cheers guys
