Brown residue!! not sure how bad this is going to get as I still don`t know enough about these engines, but Rixio as you have passed a compression test might you just have something floating around your engine, last week I brought a n/a rotary with a blown oil seal, just to see if I could rebuild one, I noticed as I stripped it that a lot of the cooling chambers where full of solid brown gunk, not sure how stronger flush you would need to clear it but acid sprang to mind!! maybe after your flushing out u may have loosened some gunk instead of clearing it?..........or am I talking outa my A***?

Quote from: R1DudeOne thing I have noticed the water in the expansion tank is clear but the water in the system when I take off the filler cap is green, is that right?

Have you filled the expansion tank up with water/antifreeze or just plain water? If it\'s the latter then that\'s why it\'s clear. Is your car showing any other symptoms of coolant seal failure i.e. persistant clouds of sweet smelling steam coming out of the exhaust on start-up, bubbles of combustion gasses rising to the surface of the coolant in the filler neck? If not, stop worrying and change that AST cap!!!!! They\'re about a fiver from halfords or any other motor factors.
