Ok, seeing as though i am rebuilding my FD engine, and am almost certianly going to be going single turbo now, i need to start shopping for the bits and pieces i\'ll need. So, currently, i am looking at the secondary fuel rail kits available, and so far, RE:Worx kit looks good. However, i don\'t know which fuel pump I\'m likely to need. I want a hastle free fitment of the pumps, so it\'s either the Bosch 040, or the Bosch 044 - obviously I don\'t want to have to spend money if i don\'t want to. So, out of those 2, which should i be going for?

Will the lower delivery of the 040 be sufficient? 102 litres @ 6.5bar (Bosch 040) vs. 200litres @ 5 bar (Bosch 044)

Cheers,

Nik

Heres some info you may find helpful;

If you read the post and follow the link to max coppers site you can have a play with some variables to see how upgrading different parts affects what you can achieve.  I would offer a word of caution and say that this is only a guide and a good tuner should be able to offer more specific advice as to your system and state of tune.

Also the apexi fuel pump is an upgraded pump (~£250-300 new) that should be able to flow around 280L/hr, propbably more than you\'ll ever need.  Again look on max\'s site where he has more info on a similar pump.#

Hope this helps

I had an 040 and it maxed out at 350 rwhp,  i then put a 959 in tank and it maxed at 390,  the 044 hasnt maxed but its no good in tank.

IIRC the skyline pump although not cheap, is the best flow for a direct replacment, the 044 is really good flow but is best used with a swirl pot and gravity fed.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

have to ask mate, what do you mean the bosch 044 pump is not good in tank? what problems are met?

antnicuk

it sucks like buggery and can suffer from starvation if its in tank when the fuel sloshes about round the bends so its better if its fed from a swirl pot,  just what i have heard though.

Bugger! This is not good news at all! Was hoping my shopping list had stopped growing! I also don\'t want the hastle of having to plumb in a swirl pot....as i don\'t know how!

im not a pro, but been looking at fuel pump issue 4a while now.
My end decision is the modified Apexi GTR one. Flows and doesnt suffer from the starvation and bend sloshing when u have just a quarter of a tank left.
not cheap tho at £280

jamie_eaton

funny you should say that, at 1/4 tank i thought i had problems, i may just see about a swirl pot then

If using a stock pump, on anything less than 1/3 of a tank, if cornering hard or drifting you will see fuel stavation, its not just the bosch.
