The insurance on the FC is just about due and hopefully, the FD itself is due in about two weeks\' time. So it was time for the annual phonaton in search of a quote that doesn\'t mean I\'d have to live off second-hand toast for the rest of the year.

The actual renewal quote for the FC (from Sureterm Direct who I\'ve had a few cars with and who have generally offered good quotes on limited mileage policies for me) was chipping in at around 375 quid for a 6k classic car policy including breakdown cover which I didn\'t think was too bad but still...

A couple of phone calls saw Heritage come in at 311 for a similar 5k policy or 365 for a 7.5k policy, Footman James came in a couple of quid cheaper. After phoning the club\'s secret weapon (aka A-Plan), the cheapest quote had dropped to 275, but without the additional benefits. A quick call back to Sureterm Direct and they suddenly found another underwriter :2Rolleyes who\'d insure the FC again for 260/295 (without/with breakdown cover). So far, so good...

While I had their attention I also asked for quotes on the FD - bear in mind it\'s slightly modified (radiator, intercooler, downpipe/cat/exhaust and PowerFC). Before I had ordered the car from RoTechniks I had talked to Sureterm who were very upbeat about their ability to get me cover for the car for reasonable money (keep this in mind).

Anyway, with the mods declared, Heritage came in at 600/700 for 6k/7.5k on a classic type policy with a 300 quid excess, AON on a 5k policy got that down to 540, Footman james wanted 682 quid for an unlimited mileage normal policy (no classic car policy due to the mods).

And Sureterm suddenly found themselves unable to quote on the FD "because it was modified" :xconfused. To their credit the guy on the phone was as surprised about this as I was...

But it looks like the pot of gold goes to ...

...

(those who are not old fogeys should look away now)

...

... A-Plan :Thumbsup!

395 quid on a regular policy with unlimited mileage, using my NCB. Granted it\'s got a 450 quid excess but TBH with the amount of NCB I have I would be daft to claim on anything less than a grand\'s worth of damage anyway. Let\'s just hope that this quote still holds when the car is ready.

The only problem is that the NCB is currently attached to a Honda CRX-shaped vehicle. Guess I need to flog that or re-insure it on a classic policy.

It\'s a plain 16V, not a VTEC, in pretty decent nick. Like all of them it would want a new sunroof as it\'s starting to rust, plus the bonnet has been resprayed and the paint has cracked :(. Very little rust on the rear wheelarches, otherwise in good nick. From memory it\'s got four previous owners, the last one for six years. Had 87k on the clock when I bought it, about 90 now.

Let me know if you\'re interested and I can take a couple of pics on the w/e.

Ah yes, the most important part :). Red, with dark gray cloth interior. Interior is in good nick but nevertheless it comes with a mint set of seats and door cards.

Plus, if I get around to finishing the install before I sell it, it\'ll have about 800 quid\'s worth of ICE in there - or about 400 quid\'s worth if you bought it used ;)
