I\'ve used Optimax in my FD since it came out.
As the BP garage is closer, i thought i\'d take a chance on their ultimate octane rated unleaded.
I\'ve got to say since this, my Rotary feels alot smoother and the exhaust fumes are definitely different!
I was very surprised and can\'t deny it as my nose and throttle foot are very much in tune with my long-term relationship with my Rotary.
PS Rotary exhaust fumes are unique and very addictive!  :3gears-lh

Evo did a fuel comparison (BP Ultimate, BP 95, Optimax, Shell 95, Tesco 99, supermarket 95 and 105 ocatne race fuel).

the race fuel was outright winner (unsurprisingly) and ultimare and tesco 99 were very close.  Optimax was a distant 4th place.  Evo put this suprising result down to Optimax \'going off\' and reccomended always buying your high-octane fuel from a busy garage.

Interestingly, this months Banzai also conducted a test with a dyno mounted turbo\'d cossie engine.....results....

Supermarket unleaded 95 : 516 bhp
Tesco 99 Ron : 523 bhp
BP ultimate : 537 bhp
Optimax : 547 bhp

this is after maxing out the timing with all the fuels.

Interesting huh ??

Very interesting - pretty much the opposite of the Evo test.  Maybe this was fresh optimax and Evo had stale stuff?
