I keep hearing of all of these companies that do this if I have a chip in the windscreen, but for an FD I suspect that it is slightly more than £50?? never have had to do this, but I also am aware that this can be done via insurance and not affect the ncb ... anybody clued up?

Thanks, mooseman

Gman

They do still do it although you have to wait for one to be imported (if none in the country)  I supose it will depend on your insurance company, check the small print.

If its only a chip you can get it repaired so long as its under 10mm dia and not damaged the laminate.

i had a stone chip, but the screen wasn\'t that good to to honest, so i got a new screen, which is nice, no extra charge on insurance, the fitter reckoned it was the only genuine one in the country at the time, he said the Mazda ones come with a screw fixed bracket on for the mirror. took 2 weeks to find it. the tint at the top was a different shade but no problem,

jody if its a chip get it repaired now,not later as the cold weather will/could make it crack...if its non repairable call in to the workshop...autoglass watford, imperial way and get a screen ordered,as the last one i fitted for (henners) took a good 2-3 weeks to get as they are quite rare on the ground...if you have any problems let me know...also if its repaired its free on the insurance,or just pay ur excess which is normally 50/60.00...if the screen is changed you also will get a new trim surround...signed autoglass....lol

Cheers fellas! its only small at the moment, prob 5mm, so it is repairable for sure. To be honest I\'d quite like a replacement anyway, the plastic trim around the windscreen has deteriorated badly and is fraying at the top corner edges.

If I get this done by autoglass rxv8, is it the same as repair cost? i.e. I pay the first £50 and the insurance picks up the rest, which I\'m sure is a lot more!! Do you fit mazda windscreens, some have mentioned that the replacement screens tend not to be as strong

Might give you fellas a bell, after making sure with the insurance company that this can be done cheaply!  :Thumbs-up

all the winscreens have to made to bs standards they are all the same quality, and the only difference is a mazda dealer screen will have mazda stamped in the glass...yes we can supply a mazda screen from the dealers.but 9 times out of ten the customer has to pay the difference between what we supply and what mazda charge...in my honest opinion its not worth paying extra for a mazda stamp...get it repaired now though while its still small, and that will cost you nothing...its only when you have the screen replaced that you have to pay the excess...repairs are free...winscreen replacement =pay excess...:)

cheers dude, but my insurance company is in the 2% that do not have autoglass as recommended dealer  :3Confused

have to go through national windscreens. am going for a replacement, even though it will cost me £60 as the plastic edge trim between the glass and the body is peeling and in poor condition and want that replaced anyway.

autoglass were very helpful, and could come out tomorrow - have heard nothing from the others, bloody typical.
