idle help

I got home tonight after a short drive, stopped out side my house went to get out as i did the idle went mad jumping  between 750 and about 450 rpm. I left it 10 min went back and started it up again. this time it\'s tick over was fine (750 rpm) , so I drove it again and it drove fine . the car has never done this before ,was this just the car playing up or could it mean the engines on it\'s way out (the car is an fc TII) :xconfused

it seams ok today  :Thumbs-up do rotarys give any warning when they are about to expire?

Mine used to do that when parked on steep hills
