Hi guys (and girls),

Long time lurker, first time poster, so please be gentle...

I\'m a great fan off all thing rotary, and having saved my hard earned cash I\'m really interested in getting a Cosmo. Finding the cars themselves isn\'t too hard, but I\'m having great difficulty finding an Insurer.

Norton seems to have a good rep here, but by the looks of it won\'t do anyone under 25. I might give them a ring tomorrow and see whether this applies just to classic insurance or all policies.

Every one I have contacted doesn\'t know what a Cosmo is. So far, only Sky, A-Plan and Chris Knott have shown any interest in trying to find out for me, but all haev said that the companies they deal with need me to be a minimum of 19 years old.

So, does anyone know of any broker/company who may be able to help?

Thanks,

Fearghas

Unless you go as a named driver on someone elses policy its gonna cost you big time.

Is this a 2nd car? if so you may be able to go for the classic policy.  Some of the cosmo owners will be able to point you in the right direction.

Welcome Mate. When it comes to insurance with a Cosmo its down to luck who you talk to most insurers will cover it if the operator on the other end of the phone is willing to search for a listing for it but because it means a bit of searching its easy for them to say they don\'t cover it. For sure Tesco will insure them they list it as a 2litre cosmo import (20b version) and Heritage will cover them as they insure mine. To save your self loads of time before you give them all your details stop them and ask them if they will insure a Cosmo and give them your age before you start with your name address etc etc. Expect to take at least half a day getting about four quotes its bloody frustrating and as i said at the start it depends who you speak to you can ring up speak to one person and they don\'t insure them ring back 30mins later speak to someone else and because there willing to look they can give you a quote.
Stick with it there\'s at least a dozen insurers out there that will insure them i just can\'t remember which one\'s have given me quotes in the past. Mines due in May so i\'ve got it all to come later in the year. One word of warning get it insured as a stock car the first time around before you start with the mods. Once the reg number is in the system it gets a lot easier.

p.s. Heritage give a discount for club members.
