Did my first little fluid service on my FD today  :guinness

Changed the Engine Oil and Filter, the Gearbox Oil and the Diff Oil.

Used....

Silkolene (Now Branded as Fuchs) XTR 10w-40 For Engine
Silkolene BOA 90 for the Diff
Silkolene Silktran Syn 5 in the Gearbox (manual)

Observations....

Engine oil was v clean (I should think so it was only changed 1500 miles ago )
Diff oil was MINGIN\' black with loads of metal bits attached to the magnetic drain bolt :(  (I have unknown brand 1.5way diff in)
Gearbox was quite clean, clearly been changed before at some point
 :D

Results....

Engine - no change (thats good I think)
Gearbox - Transformed, much less notchy, must be due to superior oil
Diff - Considerably more friendly than before, much smoother.

Also noticed a crack starking in the turbo oil drain hose that goes to the sump, replaced at once :chat
That could have been nasty :eek

Now then a couple of questions.....

1. Where does the FD air conditioning drain its water out of as mine seems to come out of the chassis about 500mm rear of the bulkhead

2. Is it normal for a modded FD to smell a bit of petrol when parked up, as I\'ve noticed mine wiffs a bit from time to time
