Hi

I recently had an advice to use unleaded 97 as opposed to 95.  Is it really better for the rotary engine and would it make any difference in acceleration?
I swear since I filled up with 97 the car seems faster?!?

If yours is an import it would have been set up on 99-100ron so, best advice is 97, 98 or 99 if you can get it.
Would not recommend ragging an FD on 95 likely to shorten its life.

Thanks for that.  The engine was rebuild by RXMotors about 1.5 years ago.  I do want to look after it.  Does this type of setting makes the car any faster?

Think higher rated RON allows the ECU to advance the ignitition timing

I think that super/ultimate (97 RON) burn cleaner or something so lessens carbon build up?? Optimax - does this have cleaners as it says it reduces the carbon thingy??

Carl

Technically running Optimax 98 allows the stock ecu to keep the timing where it would like to go,as long as it is a stock ecu and not a modded one.
If the stock ecu detects knock(Preignition/detonation)it then retards the timeing to try to compensate, this is more likely to happen with lower octane fuel.
When the timing is retarded the power goes down somewhat.

Thanks for that.  The problem is that not all stations do all types of petrol.  I have already started using 98 and I can feel the diference.
