My TII is finally ready for its first road test since completion.  I have learnt a lot since building my FD and hopefully i have ironed out a lot of the problems that i incured when i first got that one running.  I have made lots of heat shields this time to stop me melting things as i did last time. (boost hose, wiring, bonnet release etc)

I have started the engine and run her up to temp a few times and sorted a few minor problems with exhaust leaks etc.  This morning before work i was sorting the last of the wiring with overide switches for the fan and fuel pump and fitting my line lock with warning LEDs for all the above.  I have just got to bleed the brakes and put the wheels back on and bolt the battery down which is now in the boot, also need to remove the inch thick of dust that is on it and then i have the unenviable task of bringing her down to the ground floor on the home made ramp.  Some of you have been to the workshop so will know that we work on the cars on the first floor and have a ramp to lower them down which isnt easy so i am hoping that once she is down, she can stay down.

So far the ecu seems fine, (borrowed Power FC for an FD)  It does cough and splutter a little but i\'m hoping that will go with tuning as it has bigger injectors and fuel pump and nothing else is original!!

I still have to make some ducting for the top of the rad and around the intercooler and air filter to make the air go where i want it to.  It will be interesting to compare air and water temps with my FD which had a front mount as this car has the intercooler flat in the bottom where the undertray went.  I will post some pictures when i get a chance.

Thanks to all the people that i have pestered on the phone trying to sort out problems,  you all know who you are.  Hopefully i will get the same results that i had with the FD,  never know!!    :3gears-lh      wish me luck :god

good luck...

good to see someone battling with it themselves

Well,    i got her out,  hosed her down,  and took her up the road,  as usual,  its LOUD.   but its not my everyday car so i\'m not that fussed.  still coughs and farts a bit but its getting better and the ecu isnt se up for the injectors etc.

I will do a few more miles running it in and get her mapped.   The water temp is a little high for my liking but its been a scorching day and the fans keep it down.   I assume on a day like this most electric fans are on all the time???  The thing i will have to look into more is that when i sit about 80 - 85 mph,  the temp went up, and i assumed it would go down.

It was nice to see Jay Dom and co, ( sorry, cant remember his name),  four 2nd gens and an elford 1st gen there today.

Before i could take many picture my camera went flat but Dom took loads and will email them to me, once i have them, i will post them.

Here are the two i managed before it died.

The car sounds sweet, exhaust tone is  :D

I guess it died then.... the camera that is!

Well here is a peek.... I\'ll let Ant post up the one he wants.

Cheers for that Dom,

I have attached a few pictures of the engine bay although things have changed since yesterday a little.

After the initial temp problems,  i fitted the stock turbo II cowling and viscous fan,   what a difference!,  it has completely transformed by water temps.

Yesterday i had a 2800 cfm electric fan strapped to the rad,  at idle it would pull the temps down to about 91 degrees at best,  when driving it with the fan on all the time, it would sit about 93 ish if you were doing between 50 - 70,  any more than 70 and the temp would climb,  even with the fan on, sitting at 80 it got to 100degrees before i chickened out and slowed down, when i sat at 60 for a while, the temps went back to about 93.  But this was with the fan on all the time.

I put the viscous fan on with the cowling and the temp slowly went to 83 when the thermostat opened, poodling around in traffic it went to 88,  out on the main road sitting at 100mph for about 10 mins it went down to 86,  the whole jouney the temps didnt move further than 5 degrees apart, where as with the electric fan it was all over the place, i think it was a little bit cooler today than it was yesterday but not a lot,  maybe 2 or 3 degrees......... so the viscous fan is staying...... no more worrying if the electric fan isnt working or blown a fuse etc..  Even if it does cost me 10bhp.

As you can see from my engine bay, i have to colour co ordinate things a little and tidy up the loom once i know its all working and what i can chop off and throw away.  I managed to fit the electric power steering under the wing where the h/lamp washer goes, so its out of the way.

For those of you that are interested,  the citroen saxo electric power steering pump fits the stock tII p/a/s fluid lines so i didnt have to have new ones made,  the steering is nice and firm but but you can park with ease.

One last thing,  there was some debate on here a little while ago as to wether you could run a TII on an Apexi PFC for an FD.... the answer is yes!
now i just have to run it in.....

Looking good. I was in Iain T\'s FD yest. and the temps was sitting between 93-100 whatever speed was done.

FD\'s do tend to run hot if they are standard,  that sort of temp is still fine but i like to sit a bit lower.  I managed to get my FD to sit in the mid 80\'s in peak summer but at TRAX last year it went up to 95 sitting in the traffic which i didnt like.  If i can keep this TII in the eighties until i race then its a bit more leaway before it over heats!
