No inner arches?

Hi all, I am the fairly new owner of a \'93 Type R (pictures will follow when i get a chance!) which has had the inner arches removed presumably for wheel clearance.  It sits very low on Tein coilovers and has 235/45 17\'s on 8.5in wide rims at the front.

What I\'m wondering is will having no inner arches have any adverse effects on my FD or does it just mean that it will have improved cooling!?

i\'d be more woried about the sheet off wheels going into engine bay thou :( i recall Clive lost his last year when his car was abit fully loaded & thus lowered he maybe able to shed light on pros & cons......

While poking about in the engine bay yesterday I noticed for the first time that there was only a liner to seperate wheel and engine at the front of the arches , I did wonder if venting this or even possibly using it as a sort of cool air intake would have any adverse affects ???

To be honest all it does if you remove them is let all the dirt/muck into the engine bay.Makes a right mess of a nice clean polished bay when its raining, leave them in mate.
Have tried mine with them out, didnt help cooling at all.

heat from the engine is ducted out through the arhes and out of the vent, so removing will not aid this, it will just make dirt easier to get every where and may? interupt air flow out, so might trap some of the hot air in, although it would pprbably be minimal.

That all sounds fair enough , has anyone actually got any good tips for either keeping engine temps down ( without the use of a vented bonnet ) or better ways of getting cold air in ???

I\'ve looked a few times at ducting from the gap at the side of the radiator but I have to flatten the ducting so much to get it through it seems like it would\'nt let good air flow through , this is the only way I know about , was even thinking about the sleek lights with the cold air feed in them ( but I like pop ups  :( )

At least keep the front section of the arch because as has already been said it makes a mess in your bay, but more importantly it will block your air filters if you have anything aftermarket fitted
All the best Clive

They also protect the wiring loom that runs just in front of the wheels. They have been times that wheels with the wrong offsets have rubbed away the plastic and started on the loom.

Thanks all for your replies.  I only use my car occasionally and only if the weather is good so i\'m not too worried about dirt and stuff.  Checked the loom in the arch and the tyre has not come into any contact with it but for peace of mind I might fit some inner liners if I come across any.
